Fear Poems were another poetry project we completed. We were studying personification. So much fun writing and illustrating these poems. They make great class read alouds. 

Here is a project that students completed over the book Seedfolks written by Paul Fleischman. To complete this project, students select one of the stories from the book and write a summary about the person featured in the story. I tell students to complete the summary by including the WHO? WHAT? WHEN? WHERE? WHY? and HOW? In the last step, the students create a visual related to the person and the person's life. This project takes about an hour to complete. It's best if it can be completed over a two-day period.  

I had my 8th grade students post the titles of the books they read during the school year. We took a 23 Books Challenge - which most of the students met.

This is a Colors Poem created by a student I had long ago. Colors Poems are still one of my favorite things to do with students.
